Dave is now available for public speaking engagements!

In modern day America, couch potatoes far outnumber the people who take their health seriously enough to exercise and eat right. Even though some people think they have the knowledge to ensure their fitness and well-being, few actually do have this knowledge . . . are far fewer put it into practice. Knowing that you need to chose wisely when preparing your meals and knowing that you should exercise,does little when you don’t have the proper tools to do those things correctly. Many have come to me and learned the what, why, when and hows so that they are far better prepared to make the right decisions, but – despite my nearly full schedule – most people lack this knowledge and allow their fitness and health to slowly and subtly slip away.

HELP HAS ARRIVED!

In an effort to help improve the health of our out-of-shape society, I am now adding Health and Fitness lectures to my services. Covering topics such as ensuring proper nutrition, strength and resistance training, shedding excess fat, bodyshaping and bodybuilding, improving your health, overall fitness training, endurance training, and other topics, I will be able to reach far more people who need this information. Designed with larger organizations in mind, I can also teach smaller groups or tailor topics to focus on a specific need or needs. Organizations can sometimes reduce health care costs when getting this information out to employees. Getting a professional to teach you can only help your people.

Are you getting ready to hit the beach this summer? If you’re not already preparing, waste no more time putting it off. You would be in a category all by yourself if you did nothing to prepare yourself and experienced significant and beneficial changes to your body and your health. It just won’t happen

We’re already seeing some warmer weather days and as the days continue to get warmer, you won’t be able to hide the effects of a long, cold winter under sweaters and heavy clothes. Besides, you want to sizzle when you hit the beach. You want heads turning to admire the results of what you should be accomplishing now! Rome wasn’t built in a day and your body can’t be completely overhauled overnight either. It takes time to do it safely and effectively. The time to start has passed, so don’t wait any longer to get started.

I have written quite a few articles on training and nutrition on my website www.harfordfitness.com, but those are basic and cannot go into great detail for obvious reasons. To get expert instruction that will challenge your physical resources — and richly reward your efforts — contact me NOW so we can start whipping you into the shape you can be proud of this summer when less clothes are the norm.  I can train you in the privacy of your own home — all you need is a place to do it. Don’t have equipment? Not a problem, because I do and will provide what’s needed. If you prefer to train in a gym, I train people in a gym located in Forest Hill, but the gym will require a membership or visitor fees to train there.

If you want to meet your goals of getting into shape and looking and feeling better, you need to plan for it.  NOW.

Sitting and just thinking about it isn’t planning . . .

Priority one is getting a physical assessment and medical screening to make sure you’re ready for exercise. Setting some attainable short term and long term goals is a good next step. Creating a good, safe, effective exercise program is a big part of the plan — but you must persevere in this plan for it to be effective. Nutritional counseling and meal planning round out the most basic essentials to start working toward your goals. The author of this article is the one who has been doing this for people for over 30 years and I can also do this for you . . . but you have to take the first step and contact me.

As I have stated in previous posts, having a great plan amounts to nothing if it’s not implemented. Just thinking about what you want to achieve won’t get it done either. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE PLUNGE AND CALL.  Once you’ve stepped out and committed to this, we can begin the process of getting you into the shape you’ve been wanting. You will have to put in the physical effort that is required, but I’ll take care of all the rest. It’s my life, it’s what I do, it’s why I got my Bachelor’s degree and my PT certification in this field. My track record speaks for itself.

What is your overarching goal? Weight loss, sliming, toning, increased fitness, bodysculpting, health, improved flexibility and endurance? This is just a partial list of what can be achieved ONCE YOU COMMIT and get started. Rome wasn’t built in a day and attempting to do this a week before you hit the beach simply won’t cut it. No one is immune to the effect that this time of year can have on your physical condition. It’s COLD outside and some of your outdoor activities might cease. There are Christmas parties which feature cookies, pies, cakes, etc., all of which all can put a hurtin’ on your weight loss efforts. Add in Christmas shopping (which can cause you to miss workouts) and the stress that often comes with it (leading to higher levels of cortisol in your system) and you have the perfect recipe for gaining unwanted weight along with a dip in your physical fitness.  So, what do you do???

Many people make a New Year’s Resolution to lose fat and get in better shape. It probably is the most common resolution. Most of them fail before the end of January with an, “oh well, THAT didn’t work”  sigh.

PLAN NOW TO SUCCEED!!!  If you’re serious about getting your body into the condition you want it to be, then you should try hiring a professional to help you. As a certified Personal Trainer who has been through the above described routine for countless years, I know what it takes to right the ship and get you headed in the right direction.When you hire me, you won’t skip training sessions. It’s one thing to “blow off” your workout when you’re not feelin’ it. However, when you have scheduled – and paid for – a training session, YOU’LL BE THERE! As so often happens, once I get you engaged in the right kind of training, you will experience an awesome workout – one that might have been skipped otherwise. When most people are losing their will to train shortly into the New Year, I will keep after your progress. We will schedule your training sessions so that it fits your routine, I’ll text you periodically to encourage you and keep you accountable . . . and I’ll push you HARD. If you stay with-in your comfort zone, you won’t make improvements. I won’t allow you to “sleepwalk” your way through a training session!

The average American gains an extra 2-6 lbs during the Christmas holidays.  However, they rarely lose all of it once the season ends. This fat increase can be overcome if attacked soon after the Holidays are over (like the beginning of January).  The longer this fat is allowed to “hang around,” the harder it is to get rid of. It almost seems to grow roots which get deeper as it becomes accustomed to hanging on your body. By getting started on it before that happens , the recent weight gain should be easier to remove . . . and then we can start on the rest! Nutritional lectures and how to plan your meals will be included with your training and will be a big part of your success.

My site (the one you’re viewing right now!) will help to explain what I offer and what I CAN do and HAVE DONE for countless others, but you will probably have more questions. Soon, local area churches in the Harford county area will have an answer to help combat the effects of all that delicious food that seems to get served whenever 2 or more members gather together!

Dave Holbrook will be offering the Temple Maintenance Boot Camp. This program is still in the planning stages, but will likely be held 3 or more evenings per week to give people of all ages and ability levels the opportunity to engage in exercise under the guidance of a professional who can help you to take care of your body – the Temple.

You don’t neglect the church building, but you keep it looking nice.  Likewise, you should make the effort to keep the Temple of the Holy Spirit looking nice too.

For a brief time only . . .

Dave will be offering an introductory price of $50.00 for one training session for new prospective members who wish to try a workout with Dave. This is $10.00 off the usual price and is the perfect solution for those who have been thinking about personal training, but didn’t want to commit to any packages before they were sure.

Dave can meet with you at your home, the gym that Dave uses, or in a location of your choosing.  For your safety, a medical and health screening will be conducted and you will discuss your goals. After some testing to help determine your current fitness level, a workout will then be conducted that addresses your goals and objectives. During this time, you will be able to evaluate Dave, his training, his knowledge and whether continuing training with him would be a good idea.

Dave is a trainer (one of the best), but he is not a salesman and will not attempt to pressure you into making any comittments. This is purely an opportunity for YOU to evaluate HIM and see if he’s all he claims to be!. You can think about it after he leaves. The only “pushing” you are likely to feel will be after you decide to continue training with Dave – and that will be considerable!
